The round robin phase of the 2013 club tennis championships for men's and ladies doubles was held last Sunday. For the first time this year the players enjoyed some warm sunshine for their matches.
In the mens doubles Kevin Harris and Oliver Rowson progressed to the main draw despite losing one of their matches to Jermy Graydon and David Sharpe. Club juniors Will Coward and George Barfoot also played well and gave Kevin and Oliver a real challenge in their match.
In the ladies event, there were 8 pairs playing in two boxes of four. The winning pairs from each box were Anne Wood / Georgina Newham and Di Girling / Sally Cotton. Di and Sally won the play off between the top two pairs.
Nicky Davies and Nicola Ellis took 3rd spot overall beating Karen Ball and Janet Clayton in the 3/4 play off. The top three pairs now all progress to the main draw knockout stages.
