Latest Croquet section news...

1 Following the holding of the national One-Ball Championship at Winchester on Sunday May 12 2013,with 389 entrants from 29 heats all over the South of England, the event raised £3400 for prostate cancer.
The manager was former Winchester member Kevin Carter, now playing at Surbiton. Winchester member Keith M Ross won the local heat held at Hamptworth on April 27th, but only managed to come halfway down the field on the day. The event was won by Libby Howard-Blood from Nailsea, who gained in confidence as the event unrolled.

2 Jo Burnaby's Spring Tournament was again held on Sunday April 28th.
Jo has done so many of these events no one knows how many she has held!
On this occasion the event was won by club secretary Keith M Ross.

3 Winchester CC hosted an overflow Golf Croquet C level event from Hamptworth on Saturday April 13th which Ian Harricon managed. This is one of several Hamptworth has held and in which some of our players have been involved.

4 The National Peels Tournament was held at Hamptworth in midMay and 2 of our players, Roger Barnacle and Rita Nunn scooped the main prizes in the women's and men's association handicap events. Pictures are in this month's Croquet Gazette.

5 The Armada Trophy (Association Doubles) was held at Winchester on Sunday June 16th with 14 players from local clubs. Two of our finest Gary Yates and Sue Edwards reached the final together with Chris Roberts and Frances Colman from Phyllis Court (Henley-on-Thames) who ultimately won, taking the trophy back to Phyllis Court.

6 At the time of writing, our teams in the Southern Federation Association and Level Play Golf Croquet leagues are leading the field, but languish in the handicap Golf Croquet league
