Head Squash Coach, Gary Hinton in sponsored canoe across Scotland to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital...

Starting on Friday 25th June, Gary Hinton/James Newell and Mark Duance will canoe across Scotland from the West Coast to East Coast to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Hopefully starting around lunchtime on Friday the trio will take the great Glen Coe Trail through Loch Ness and various other Lochs/rivers and canals to complete the journey from west to east coast.  They will be wild camping on the edge of the lochs and surviving on the food they can carry and any fish they can catch…

Why? Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today. Support from fundraising events like this helps them to buy vital equipment, fund pioneering research and most importantly rebuild and refurbish some of their hospital site. This redevelopment will allow them to replace inconvenient, cramped outdated wards with new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their child and will mean that children have more space in which to get well.

Gary has visited “Great Ormond Street Hospital during treatment for his sons(Evan) microtia and was blown away by the place…it is an amazing place which has touched the lives of so many children and their families. With a family of our own we wanted to show our support, not only by raising money but also raising awareness about the hospital…..If you would like more information about how you can help Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity please visit www.gosh.org or call 020 7239 3000.
