The finals day for the 2014 club championships took place on Saturday 12th July in glorious sunshine. A large crowd were duly entertained with some enthralling tennis with some closely contested finals....
The ladies singles final produced some great tennis for the packed terrace. Hannah Crawford took the title 6-2, 7-5 despite a spirited fightback from Emily Kerr in the second set.
The mens final between Karl Grossey and Karim Aouichaoui was an even more compelling watch. The first set was closely contested with Karl just edging it on a tie break 7-6. Karim fought back taking second set 6-0 then it was neck and neck in the third with Karl just clinching it 6-4.
The standard of tennis was exceptional at times and easily some of the best seen on number one court for many years.
Overall there were 14 finals played out on a day blessed with typical finals day glorious weather.
Special thanks to Kris Dymond who did a great job umpiring the mens and ladies singles finals.
