Ladies’ tennis pre-season team practice for good club juniors and new members
There will be a pre-season practice on Sunday 9 March from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm to which we invite all our good girl junior players (18 and Under) plus any new members who have joined the club in the last 12 months and who wish to play competitive tennis for any of our club teams this coming season.
It is currently an exciting time for the club with more female teams entered in the Aegon competitions than ever before; this includes a Girls Under 18 team and an adult team who this year have qualified for the regional section of the national competition. We have a high standard at Girls’ Under 18 and Under 16 levels and wish very much to include our best girls in our senior club teams whenever this is possible. Gathering interested players and meeting with team captains on Sunday 9 March will hopefully help us sort the interest, standard and availability of our top junior players and of our new members.
The practice on Sunday 9 March from 1.30pm to 4.00pm will take place on our 4 indoor courts, already pre-booked for this practice session.
The practice will mostly be competitive doubles play and involve some current ladies’ team players mixing in with both our junior players and with any new members.
At senior level, the club runs ladies teams for all ages and a range of abilities, in open and veteran age groups, both local leagues and national knockout events, plus mixed tennis. Much of the inter club tennis is played in the April to July period, but some continues through the rest of the summer and there are winter teams too.
If you would like to be considered for one of our competitive club teams this summer, please sign up in advance on the relevant practice sheet for this session on Sunday 9 March. The sign-up sheets will be held at the club reception. Please sign up at least a week before the practice session in order that the competitive play can be planned in advance.
We hope to see you on Sunday 9 March.
Liz Davies, ladies captain and Monica Finlayson, winter captain.
