Well done to Sam Gandee Morgan and Theo Maclean who played the club Road to Wimbledon finals yesterday. Sam won the match to determine who goes through and he will now go on to represent the club on the grass courts at Southsea.      See full story...

CROQUET - Armada Trophy report

Once again Ivor Nunn has defied all expectations and his age of 90 years in winning the Armada Trophy with his partner Artur da Costa at Hamptworth on Saturday June 6th 2015. This is an annual event organised by the Southern Croquet Federation.      See full story...

TENNIS - Quorn Family Cup report and photo...

Well done to Peter and Joe Jenkinson who won the club stage of the Quorn Family Cup. The event is a doubles format played on a mini red tennis court with sponge balls. The Quorn Family Tennis Cup held the first Sunday of half term week here at the Club was a new experience for all of those playing and for the organiser Alison as well.      See full story...

TENNIS - Junior County Cup 10&U report...

The venue for this year’s County Cup was the excellent Weald Lawn Tennis Squash and Rackets club and we started day one in bright sunshine. Hants & IOW were drawn in group B with Sussex and Surrey which was a repeat of last year’s difficult opening day.      See full story...

TENNIS - Bookings procedure and dress code reminder

Now we are in the summer season the issue of dress code returns again as we start to see a "range" of attire on court! As a reminder to all, the dress code for playing on the tennis courts is "recognised tennis clothing and footwear". Clearly from what we see the professionals playing and training in these days, that can cover a really wide range of colours and styles for both male and female players. TENNIS - CLUB FINALS DAY Saturday 4th July

We have a terrific day planned for our club championships finals on Saturday 4th July and we hope to see at least as many members down at the club as we had for the recent Wimbledon draw evening. The men’s C team entertained Hedge End on Saturday and the match proved to be entertaining throughout. The team of Dan Cole Joe Beal; Gareth Birdsall Mark Finlayson and Kevin Harris Mark Swinscoe got off to a flying start winning the first set on each court, Mark and Gareth at 2nd pair then suffered the ignominy of scrapping to avoid the dreaded “bagel” in the second set and lost the match tie-break with the opponents bringing out a string of unlikely winners. Nevertheless the first round ended 2 – 1 to Winchester.      See full story...

TENNIS - Mens C go down at Avondale...

Last weekend saw the C team travel to Avondale just outside Farnham. The team was rocked on Friday afternoon by the withdrawal of a player, and was only finalised at the 11th hour on Saturday morning at 09:30 – many thanks to Adam Espir and Rupert Goodman who re-organised their days to complete the team.      See full story...

TENNIS - Report on men's win in Solent Cup ...

The Solent Cup is an annual cup contested between the winners of the Southampton tennis League vs the winners of the Portsmouth tennis league. After the Winchester Mens A team secured the Southampton winter league title, they earned themselves another crack at the Solent Cup title which they lost to Warsash last year. The 2015 Solent Cup final would also be a repeat of last years final against Warsash, this time with a home advantage for Winchester.      See full story...
