CROQUET - Southern Challenge report...

This year, the Southern Challenge took place at Southwick, just to the west of Brighton over 2 days July 5th and 6th. Winchester CC having won the 2nd Division last year were promoted to the 1st Division this year, where the competition was expected to be particularly severe.      See full story...

TENNIS - Another win for Apsley A

Our Apsley A team continued its winning ways with a 7-1 win at struggling David Lloyd on Saturday (14 June). The night before the match we received a call from the opponents to say that they could only get 2 pairs out, but we still wanted to play (could probably have claimed the match), so we duly arrived at David Lloyd only needing 1 rubber win to win overall.      See full story...

CROQUET - Armada Trophy report...

The annual Armada Trophy organised by the Southern Croquet Federation took place at Hamptworth on a blustery day on Sat June 6th. There were 5 teams managed by Chris Roberts of Phyllis Court CC. This is a handicap 14 point AC Doubles event. Each team was to play the other teams in 1 ½ hour matches. Winchester had 2 pairs (Roger Barnacle and Artur da Silva and Keith Mackenzie Ross and Glynis Hassall).      See full story...

TENNIS - Mixed Vets Doubles One Day Tournament - Sunday 15th June

We are running a one day mixed vets doubles tournament on Sunday 15 June that will produce the finalists to play in the club championships finals day. JUNIOR TENNIS - Junior Club Night needs more support....

The recently restarted Junior Club Night on Fridays from 6:30-8PM has been very poorly attended. For it to be worthwhile, James really needs around 8 juniors minimum to make it work. It may be that the Super Sundays with Alex which are really working well are making the Friday session unnecessary.      See full story...
