TENNIS - Apsley A beat the rain and their opponents.....

With discussions about the weather raging on for days before, it was decided after a court check in the morning that the match would proceed, despite all the rain and heavy showers filling the forecast. As the Winchester team took to the court to warm up, we soon realised it was going to be very interesting with dry but very soft grass courts, very low bounces, and many not bouncing.      See full story...

TENNIS - Well Done Mens B team....

Men’s ‘B’ team have very nearly completed their season just 2 months after they started it, and have done so in some style beating Riverside ‘A’ team 7.5-1.5, our 3rd match in so many weeks. The team have won all 5 matches played and are now guaranteed a return to Division 1, with the final match against Hedge End in February.      See full story...

CROQUET - Wilts Open GC Tournament report...

On a blustery day the scheduled Wilts Open GC Tournament was curtailed to one day owing to flooding of the lawns on the previous day. There were 16 contestants, including members from Sussex County, Dulwich, Cheltenham, East Dorset and one contestant from Wales.      See full story...

TENNIS - Ladies A team beat Swanmore...and the weather!...

The ladies winter league first team played in foul weather on 2 March to secure a win in our rearranged match against Swanmore. The tennis was played in good spirit and the best news was that our third pair Nicki Evans and Nicky Davies took a set off their first pair to ensure we did not need to play the third round, for which all twelve wet players were very grateful.      See full story...

SQUASH - Winchester Junior Open 2014 report...

The prestigious Winchester Junior Open Squash Tournament took place last weekend. Players traveled from all over the South to take part, including 12 juniors from Bristol and 14 from Guernsey. With over 100 competitors in total playing over 200 matches between them it was a true festival of squash, the culmination of which was the tightest of finals between our own Josh Carter and Tom Kirby, with Josh just squeezing it 16-14 in the fifth game.      See full story...

TENNIS - Ladies Teams Pre Season Practice this weekend Sunday 9 March

There will be a pre-season practice on Sunday 9 March from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm to which we invite all our good girl junior players (18 and Under) plus any new members who have joined the club in the last 12 months and who wish to play competitive tennis for any of our club teams this coming season.      See full story...
